Bro Glasbruk respects the enviroment!

When new glass objects are made, they are made from recycled glass. The furnace that we use to melt the glass is driven only by biogas (methanegas). We use diffrent types of recycled glass, glass from TV and computer monitors, recycled windowglass (float) and environmental friendly crystal.

The glass from TV and computer monitors are from scrapped old-style monitors in Sweden.

The windowglass (or floatglass) that Bro Glasbruk takes care of would otherwise be destroyed because the it didn't harden correctly in the manufacturing process.

The environmental friendly crystal is made from recycled crystal, and is free from lead and arsenic.

The glassworks consume around 11 000 pounds of glass every year thats melted to be used in the creation of new glass objects.

But most important of all is the biogas!

the biogas is a Energas, which means that the gas has a high energy content and can be used as fuel.

The biogas is collected from the recyclingplant Högbytorp nearby on comes to Bro Glasbruk via pipelines. In the glassworks the gas is routed to the furnice's burner. To acheive a better combustion, air from a fan is routed into the burner as well. If no air is added, there would be no oxygen for the flame to consume.
